PRAYER OF PEACE:

For Ukraine, and help for all those who are suffering, grieving, or displaced, because of the evils of war and the destruction wrought by Hurricane Ian.

PRAYER FOCUS:

A prayer for worship from Pastor Tim (10-2-2022):

Dear God, this weekend, you will again call us together as a congregation to worship you. Thank you for the incredible privilege we have each week of gathering as one family in your holy presence. Thank you that each weekend, you speak words of life to us, and we respond in praise, gratitude, and obedience. Let us be renewed in Christ. As we live in the spirit of worshipful people, may our lives please you in every way, and may the light of Christ shine ever more brightly in our homes, workplaces, community, and anywhere in the world you may send us. I pray that by your Holy Spirit, you will work and move in powerful ways during the upcoming worship services.

I pray for:

  • those involved in leading worship.  Help them to serve you with heart and soul, motivated and energized by love for you and passion for your church.
  • the whole congregation – myself included – that we will see ourselves as hosts and demonstrate the warm  hospitality of Jesus to every newcomer and stranger who comes to our worship services.
  • children and youth, that like Jesus we welcome them warmly, and that these young people are eager to be at worship and Sunday school because it is meaningful and fun and full of life.
  • those who can’t make it to worship, that though your Holy Spirit, they may still feel connected to our community; help us to care for them.

May the name of Jesus be lifted high in Ascension’s worship!

In his name I pray, Amen.
