“…to live among God’s faithful people, to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s Supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.”
Friends in Christ at Ascension,
God’s Spirit is undeniably at work in every one of our Confirmation students. I hope you’ll join us on Sunday at 9 am to catch a glimpse of it. They’ll be leading most of the service with words that they wrote as well as sharing faith statements. You don’t want to miss it!
Or, if you join us for our other services, you’ll still hear about the work of God’s Spirit, as Pastor Steve will talk about how the Spirit is our Helper, Teacher, and Counselor. Join us!
In gratitude for all the ways you are the hands and feet of Jesus.
God’s peace,
Save The Date:
Pastor Paul will lead the adult ed. class on June 5, which is also the day we will celebrate his and Christi Labrenz’ retirements. Be sure to save the date!
Coming up in Adult Ed June 5:
Sing a New Song
From where do the words of a song come? What is the inspiration? What is the intention behind the words?
I have written texts for twenty-seven hymns, many of which we have sung here at Ascension. Some were written in preparation for significant events, and some were written in response to events. Some just seemed to happen.
In every case, it was and is my hope that God is glorified through the words of these hymns. I invite you to join me for the Adult Sunday School class on June 5, where I will share with you the stories behind my hymn texts. We will likely sing a bit too.

In Need Of Prayer
Attendance

C’mon Ascension—we’re almost there!
Please help Cam Lorentson recover the loss of his tools and truck accessories.
As you may know, he recently had his truck stolen — a truck that has carried countless loads for Ascension through the years. Insurance is covering the basics, but a number of important items will have to be replaced out of pocket.
When Ascension needs Cam, he’s there—let’s be there for him!
Can you help?
VBS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We need lots of volunteers for July 11 – 15!
Did you know:
- We have roles that require zero prep?
- Those 7th grade and up can help!
- We are especially in need of an energetic MC for our opening and closing time.
- Even if you’re not available July 11-15, we can use you to help us prepare.
If you think you can’t or you feel a little scared of the idea, remember: that’s often how God’s call feels! Can you help? Want more info? Come and talk to me!
VBS Registration Open!
Registration is now open for VBS – which will be the week of July 11, in the mornings.
This summer, kids are invited to a Monumental off-road adventure through the colorful canyons and sunbaked trails of the southwest. By exploring God’s awesomeness, they form a rock-solid faith for the road ahead.
Calling All Graduates & Families of Graduates!
We are planning a congratulations tribute to all of Ascension’s sons and daughters who are completing milestones in education this year — and WE DON’T WANT TO LEAVE ANYONE OUT! Families, we need your graduating student’s NAME, SCHOOL and, if applicable, COLLEGE DEGREE.
Please email , or drop off your information at the church office.
