Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed!
It’s week two of Easter and now we get to think about what it actually means for us that Jesus rose from the dead.
How does it change things for us?
Join us this week as we ponder how to be resurrection people, and how Jesus can make a difference for us in our real, messy lives.

Seven Weeks of Easter
Easter is not just one Sunday.
The Season of Easter runs for seven weeks, so there are a total of seven “Sundays of Easter.” In addition, every Sunday throughout the year is, in essence, a little Easter, as we proclaim the victory of Jesus over death and all that would separate us from God.
I invite you to join me for the Adult Sunday School class on April 24, where we will look at the themes that define the Seven Sundays of Easter. There are texts that are used every year and texts that vary year to year.
Please join me at 10:10 on the 24th to discover anew the many facets of Easter.
Pastor Paul
(The class originally scheduled for the 24th – “Sing a New Song” [a look at the hymns I have written] – has been postponed until June 5, which is Pentecost Sunday. That will be the last Sunday I serve Ascension as Director of Worship. Jean and I will continue to be committed members of Ascension and will delight to work with all of you “to create opportunities for all people to become devoted followers of Christ.”)
May 1 Adult Ed
California Lutheran University Professor of Religion Julia Fogg, Ph.D. (link), will talk about the Christian relationship to immigration and her critically lauded book, Finding Jesus at the Border: Opening Our Hearts to the Stories of Our Immigrant Neighbors.
Ascension’s Easter 2022
Thank you, One Ascension, for making this Easter a truly inspiring, joyous and beautiful occasion!
Thank you for the sermons and prayers Pastor Tim, Pastor Steve, Pastor Julie and Dianne Beck.
Thank you, musicians and singers and music leaders!
Thank you to those involved in egg making and egg hiding. Pastor Julie’s Easter Egg Hunt was a fun time and community outreach – with 2,000 eggs prepared and 2,000 collected!
Thank you, garden makers, mulch spreaders, setter uppers and taker downers. This year’s outdoor sunrise service by the great oak tree was a lovely addition to Ascension’s Easter worship! Attendance exceeded expectations, and we can only imagine how awesome it will be when the new Garden is completed.
Yes, Ascension’s Easter 2022 was a mix of new and tried and true, and a welcome back to our church, too, for some in our wider community!
Our Prayer
We pray that you may once again meet the Risen Christ through the Word and Sacrament ministry, and through the fellowship of this family of faith.
If you do not have a church home, we would like to invite you to worship with our Ascension family again.
All people who are baptized and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are welcome to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
May God bless you in your worship!
Pastors Tim Delkeskamp, Steve Herder, & Julie McCain
Shaya Saneinia celebrated his first communion, in chapel, Maundy Thursday, April 14.

Senior Luther League Updates:
Bible study continues on Sundays from 5:00-6:30 in the dugout. Remember you are always welcome, whether you’ve come before or not, whether you can only come sometimes or all the time, whether you’re late or need to leave a little early. Just come! We love having all who can make it.
We have some wonderful fundraising opportunities coming up quickly in May where we need many volunteers!
The first one is the Chili Cook-Off trash pick-up on Sunday, May 1st from 1:00-3:30 or 3:30-6:30. (No Bible Study this day) The Thousand Oaks Rotary gives us a very generous donation for helping with this. You can sign up as individuals or as a family to help with this.
Sign up HERE for Chili Cook-off Trash Clean-up Sunday, May 1.
The other opportunity is helping Global Ministries with the Fair Trade Gift Fair on Saturday, May 7th.
You can help sell items, make and sell popcorn and drinks, or help with the kids’ craft table. You can sign up in shifts or for the entire day (8 am-3:30 p.m.) Global Ministries is donating ten percent of the profits to the youth!
