This Week At Ascension

Called to create opportunities for all people to become devoted followers of Christ

April 21, 2024

Calling of the Apostles

Grace and peace to you my family in Christ,

This week we are going to hear Jesus talk about being the “Good Shepherd.”

Most of us probably generally understand this metaphor that Jesus taught, but do we really understand it the way Jesus wants us too?

The answer is, because we are so far removed from Shepherding in our culture we probably don’t. So let’s talk about it and take in Jesus’ great invitation to grow in grace as the sheep of his flock!

Looking forward to seeing you in worship!

Keep ‘Em Coming!

Recent Be the Blessing Grants

Thank you, One Ascension, for your grant requests to start new ministries and expand existing ones.

To date we have received more than a dozen requests for funding. And those ministries are benefitting people (and in one case God’s creatures) both locally and internationally.

One recently approved grant is funding welcome kits with essentials for refugees who have endured hardship to come to our community. Another grant was issued for the 3-year-olds in our Early Childhood Center to provide special lunch bags for disadvantaged clients who use the services at Harbor House.

There’s a huge need for quilts to help keep people warm around the world. So a grant was issued for Ascension volunteers to buy material and then make even more of our beautiful quilts. And still another recent grant was for students in our day school to buy supplies for a lemonade stand that will serve as a fundraiser for a panda bear habitat in Asia.

As Pastor Tim would say, “Come on, people!”

Check out the Be the Blessing page on Ascension’s website,  develop a ministry idea, get others involved, and apply for a grant. It’s easy. The Be the Blessing Team is especially interested in supporting ministries that are not currently on Ascension’s radar – as long as they’re ministries that Ascension members are or will participate in. (Check out the guidelines on the website.)

What kind of a difference would you like to make in the world? Perhaps Ascension can help you start a ministry.

Thanks for Being the Blessing!

Thanks to all who came, those who have already financially supported this project and for your encouragement to go “all in” with this project at Ascension!

A huge thank you from our Global Ministries Team!
